Attractions
Schutterspark
Climbing in the treetops, experiencing nature in all its glory or become a real captain or train driver. Or how about petting animals at the petting zoo, playing until the sun goes down or relaxing on the terrace? Schutterspark offers fun and entertainment for young and old. Which attractions will you discover?
Barefoot Park
Experience nature beneath your toes! Experience the grass and sand, the springy earth under your feet and the soothing sensation of a mud bath. Real daredevils take the obstacle course across the pond or balance on the balancing beams. An experience for young and old! In autumn and winter there are other fun activities (open until the Christmas holidays).
Adventure Park het Plateau
Here you can climb treetops or experience the hilly landscape by mountain bike. Or how about archery, axe throwing or crossbow shooting? A Valhalla for real adventure seekers. Enjoy the view of the ponds from the terrace. Or share your adventures over a Weizenbier and Fritatten soup in the Almhütte restaurant.
Petting zoo
Goats, rabbits, pigs, deer, donkeys, ponies, alpacas, wallabies, tortoises and even parrots, there are a lot of animals here (too many to mention). You can pet, feed and watch them. Cuddled up? Walk the gnome trail, learn to milk on an artificial goat or explore the playground on a tractor. Take a breather on the small terrace or on one of the picnic benches. Want to bet that you will not have enough time?
MiniHaven
Ahoy captain! Choose your favourite ship, then the harbour master will help you on board and cast off like a real captain. With the help of your sailor, you will always reach the harbour again. From the terrace with the accompanying playground, visitors can enjoy themselves.
Schuttersspoor
Choo choo! Take a ride on the mini steam trains! Over the steel suspension bridge, through the coal mine tunnel, you can take a fun ride here. The dream of every child and train enthusiast! Open on Sunday afternoon when the weather is nice.
Playground
Hours of fun the old-fashioned way! Slides, climbing frames, splashing with water and jumping on the trampoline until you run out of energy. Children up to 12 years of age will have a great time here!
Nature playground
No swings or trampolines, but romp around in the forest with ‘natural’ play materials. Swing like Tarzan, slide, climb over tree trunks and, with a little imagination, experience your own adventure in and with nature!
Pump buildings
During the mining period they used to filter groundwater here, now you can party here until the sun rises again! Parties, weddings, small festivals, but also flea markets and exhibitions take place at the buildings. A special piece of industrial heritage!
Brasserie Schuttershüske
Built in 1921 as a milk parlour for the miners and their families. Nowadays, you can enjoy a delicious breakfast, a cup of coffee with pie or a tasty lunch here. The place to be for families! From the spacious terrace you can view the playground. While the children romp around, you can enjoy a cold beer! In the winter you can warm up by the cosy fireplace after a brisk walk.
The ‘IJshut’
Enjoy delicious ice cream, milkshakes, waffles or coffee on the picnic bench or on on the grass. Vegan, lactose-free, light, everyone can enjoy an ice cream here. Even your four-legged friend, because they also have dog ice here! Which flavour are you going to try?
Apiary ‘De Blije Bij’
In this historic house from 1930, you can find a real apiary. Beekeeper ‘’De Blije Bij’’ teaches the art of beekeeping. The honey is for sale at various places in Schutterspark or via the website. Tip: take a look during the national beekeepers’ day and discover everything about the bees that live here.
Pompenhuuske
In the mining days, the pumps that stood here pumped the water from the pond to wash the mined coals of the State Mine. You can see everything about the history and the flora and fauna of Schutterspark here.
My favourite spot
“”It is wonderful to play under the bridge from the pond to Schuttershüske!
Natural, quiet, beautiful and unspoilt. Favourite spot of my little son, my dog and myself.”
